Typography is the foundation of web design. Get it right and everything else falls into place. Get it wrong and no amount of illustration or animation will save you.
The Rule of Two
Two typefaces is usually enough. A display face for headings and a text face for body. The contrast between them creates hierarchy without needing to shout.
Weight Matters More Than Size
Before reaching for a larger font size, try a heavier weight. Or a lighter one. The interplay of weights within a single typeface can create surprisingly rich hierarchies.
Letter-Spacing is Underrated
Tight tracking on large headings (-0.04em) makes them feel confident and intentional. Wider tracking on small uppercase labels makes them feel refined. These micro-adjustments compound into a cohesive feel.
